The draw should feel like part of the event, not a browser window someone forgot to close. Good screen design and clear stage cues build anticipation and make each reveal satisfying for the whole room.
Use the event's colours, logo and theme on the draw screen. Prepare a holding screen to show before the segment starts and between prizes, so the audience never sees a desktop or a loading bar.
Use large, high-contrast text that can be read from the back of the room.
Show the prize name clearly before each draw.
Keep the winner reveal uncluttered: name and one identifier is enough.
Test long names and names with unusual characters on the actual screen.
A short, clean animation creates suspense. A long or busy one makes the segment drag.
With many prizes, order matters. Many events start with smaller prizes and build towards the grand prize at the end. Some split the draw into rounds across the evening to hold energy. Map out every prize, who presents it, when photos are taken and when music plays.
The emcee needs the prize list in order, the rules, the redraw process and the timing for each round. They should know exactly what to say if a winner does not come forward. The emcee and the technical operator must work from the same run sheet.
Lay out prizes in order near the stage. Assign someone to hand each prize to the presenter. Decide whether large prizes are presented on stage with a voucher or certificate and collected later.
A short music sting during each draw and a lighting change for the reveal add drama at little effort. Agree these cues with your AV team and include them in the run sheet.
Agree a standard photo position and keep it quick. Winners, presenters and the prize in front of the backdrop, then on to the next draw.
