Nice to meet you all, you can call me Reba. I’ve been playing volleyball since 6 th grade on the middle school team where I first developed fond memories of shopping for new court shoes and donning those big bulky kneepads every season. I grew to love everything about the sport, from the bump, set, spike to the bus rides with the team. I played competitively throughout high school and have played on intramural leagues when I can and pickup games ever since. As a strong advocate for the importance of team sports to build character in youth, I look forward to instilling the love of the game in a new generation of athletes.
I started volleyball in 8th grade. After watching my friends rave about it all season, I was so envious and I couldn't wait to join the team. It did live up to my expectations, and I remember having so much fun and doing a lot of laughing during practices. I played all through high school, and made captain my senior year. Despite being on a small team that had a different coach each year and wasn't particularly good at winning, I had so much fun and I made some great friends.
In college, I managed to grab a coveted spot on the Trinity University volleyball team, but life on the bench didn't really suit me. My sophomore year, I started playing many different intramural sports at Trinity instead, including volleyball, flag football and soccer. This was super social and a great way to meet new people. I was able to play for my college in Brisbane, Australia on my study abroad trip, which proved that sports can be a universal language. After college, I played in a few adult leagues in both Madison, WI and New York, NY. This past summer, I got to play some really fun/low key beach volleyball by the ocean while visiting my brother in Saipan. I truly believe that playing sports, trying new things and staying active should always travel with you!
More recently, I have deeply enjoyed watching my own kids play and improve in the sport of volleyball. Thanks to my daughter playing at Central and for Impact Club team, I've logged countless hours of watching her play in the last few years and have truly enjoyed every minute. I'm so excited that Evelyn, a TCGIS alumni, will be assisting me with coaching this year!
Volleyball is such a fun and dynamic game to play and to watch. I can't wait to share my love of this sport with the 7/8 team this season!
Hi my name is Cayden Kuss, and I am super excited to be joining the TCGIS coaching staff. I am a University of Minnesota Undergraduate student and I've been playing competitive volleyball for 3 and a half years now, but I've played casually for most of my life. I started out as a kid in California, playing with my mom on the beach and continued playing beach volleyball casually as well. Usually in some outdoor competitive leagues until I began playing high school volleyball with the team I started in the spring of 2023. I've been playing club volleyball and high school ever since, with a season at Minnesota Select Volleyball and another at TeamSota Volleyball Club, which is where I currently play. I love this game with my entire being, and nothing makes me happier than watching our youth fall in love with the game too. I also know the importance of a team setting and the joy sports bring as it had a huge impact on my life. My goal is to hopefully instill the same passion that I have or at the very least foster a good experience for the team. I can't wait to start the season!
