Anthony Siccardi

Aquaculture and Aquaponics. Dr. Anthony Siccardi’s research group focuses on the aquaculture of commercially important fish and shellfish species for coastal Georgia, algae production for biofuel and bioproducts, and aquaponics. Students have the opportunity to work on a variety of research projects involving the use of algal turf scrubbers (ATS), optimization of aquaculture diets, and the effect of water quality (i.e. temperature, pH, etc.) on the production of important aquaculture and aquaponic species.

Research Plan for REU Participant: Students will contribute to the study design and develop projects to: 1) assess the effect of temperature on recirculating ATS biomass productivity, nutrient uptake, and species composition, and 2) determine how these results will affect ATS implementation for nutrient removal in aquaculture and polluted coastal Georgia waterways.
