The RESCoPE Program in the Georgia Southern University Department of Biology is focused on providing meaningful research experience and mentorship to undergraduate students interested in coastal plain research! Our program brings a diverse cohort of ten fellows to the Georgia Southern campus in Statesboro, Georgia each summer for ten weeks. Fellows conduct independent research with a faculty mentor and present their findings at a end-of-summer research symposium. Fellows also engage in a diverse array of workshops, seminars, and field trips to learn about the research being conducted in southeastern coastal plain ecosystems. This experiential learning program is designed to develop the next generation of researchers through exposure to a wide variety of techniques, program partners, research settings, and by providing hands-on research experience and professional development.
We proudly support fellows from diverse backgrounds. Students from historically underrepresented groups in STEM, those enrolled at research-limited institutions, or those who have otherwise faced barriers to entry in research are heavily encouraged to apply!
