Wagner Middle School Counseling Services

The Wagner Middle School Counseling Services Department is committed to supporting the academic, social, emotional, and future readiness of every student. Our Professional School Counselors each bring unique strengths and experiences that contribute to Georgetown ISD's Counseling Services Mission and Vision. Together, we work within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to personalize the educational experience and ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Our counselors implement a high-quality, comprehensive, developmental school counseling program that aligns with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. This framework provides a proactive, data-informed approach to meeting the needs of all students through prevention, intervention, and support.

Each year, Wagner counselors engage in continuous program planning and improvement by:

• Establishing annual program goals based on campus and student data

• Developing action plans to achieve those goals

• Collaborating with campus administration through the annual Principal-Counselor Agreement

• Evaluating program effectiveness to ensure continuous growth and improvement

Supporting the Georgetown ISD Learner Profile

In Georgetown ISD, we believe learning extends far beyond academics. Our students continuously develop the skills and attributes outlined in the GISD Learner Profile, preparing them to be successful not only in school, but throughout their lives.

At Wagner Middle School, our counseling program intentionally supports the development of these competencies. We recognize that academic success is only one part of a student's journey. Equally important are the social-emotional and interpersonal skills that enable students to navigate challenges, build healthy relationships, make responsible decisions, and become resilient, compassionate members of their communities. By supporting the whole child, we help students develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed in school and beyond.

Delivery of Counseling Services

School counselors deliver services through four integrated components of the Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Program:

Guidance Curriculum

A proactive, developmental program designed to equip all students with the knowledge and skills necessary for academic, social-emotional, and college, career, and military readiness. Services include:

• Classroom guidance lessons

• Small group counseling

• Academic scheduling and course planning

Individual Planning

Counselors partner with students and families to support goal setting and future planning through:

• Academic planning

• Graduation planning

• College, career, and military readiness exploration

• Individual student conferences

Responsive Services

Counselors provide timely support to address students' immediate needs through:

• Individual counseling

• Crisis response and intervention

• Consultation with families and staff

• Referrals to community resources when appropriate

System Support

Counselors strengthen the school community by:

• Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families

• Participating in campus leadership and school improvement efforts

• Coordinating student support services

• Analyzing program data and evaluating outcomes

• Advocating for equitable opportunities and student success

Through these comprehensive services, Wagner Middle School counselors foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every student is empowered to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and personally.

Hello Wagner Wolf Pack!

I am beyond excited to join the Wagner Wolf Pack this year! After 25 years in education (yes, I started when I was very young...at least that's the story I'm sticking with!), I'm thrilled to begin this new adventure with Georgetown ISD after spending my career in Lubbock ISD.

I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Tech University—so, yes, you'll occasionally hear a "Wreck 'Em!" slip into conversation.

Along the way, I took a break from public education to work in private practice, which gave me valuable experiences that continue to help me support students and families today.

One of my favorite accomplishments was helping create the Muttley Crew Therapy Dog Program in Lubbock ISD. Watching a wagging tail turn a tough day into a better one has been one of the greatest reminders that sometimes the best counselors have four legs and don't say a word! Therapy dogs have an incredible way of helping students co-regulate emotions and manage challenges like severe anxiety.

When I'm not at school, you'll usually find me traveling with my family, planning my next adventure, or trying to decide whether the beach or the mountains is my favorite (the answer changes depending on the day!). I also love spending time with my wonderful grandchildren, who do a great job of keeping me young—and on my toes!

I can't wait to meet the students, families, and staff at Wagner. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, laughter, growth, and maybe a few puppy stories along the way.
