The East View counseling team presents teachers annually with important tools to start the school year on a positive note and to help them monitor student mental health needs throughout the school year. Our presentation encompassed mental health brain research, Social and Emotional Learning, staff supports and more. EVHS counselors continue supporting students, parents, and teachers throughout the school year by providing resources and strategies. Additionally, EVHS counselors collaborate with our campus college, career, and military specialist, parents, and campus teachers to provide resources and guidance to students throughout the year in various settings.
The following lesson was created for our 9th grade students at East View High School. Data collected during the previous school year revealed that our younger student population demonstrated the need for additional instruction in postsecondary planning and options. In collaboration with our college, career, and military Specialist as well as our Counseling Advisory Committee, this lesson was created with the goal of encouraging students to make knowledgeable decisions regarding course selection and to evaluate their postsecondary options. Following each classroom lesson, counselors meet one-on-one with their 9th grade students to answer any follow-up questions and assess the impact and effectiveness of the lesson.
