The 12th International Workshop on Spanish Sociolinguistics (WSS12) invites submissions for papers, posters, panels, and workshops. WSS12 will take place at Georgetown University from April 9–11, 2026, continuing its tradition of bringing together scholars and students from around the world to explore language in society.
We welcome proposals on all areas of Spanish sociolinguistics, including but not limited to: language variation and change, contact linguistics, bilingualism and multilingualism, Spanish in the United States and Canada, pidgin and creole languages, language policy and planning, and language ideologies. Submissions that examine the contributions of ethnoracial, gender, and Indigenous identities to Spanish linguistic diversity are particularly encouraged.
Abstracts must be anonymous.
Maximum length: 500 words (excluding references and figures).
Authors may submit proposals for a paper, poster, panel (4–5 papers), or workshop.
Each author may submit one individual and one joint abstract, or up to two joint abstracts.
Abstracts may be submitted in either Spanish or English.
Submission deadline: November 1, 2025 November 15, 2025
Notification of acceptance: December 1, 2025 December 15, 2025
