Policies & Guidelines

There are many policies and guidelines that support graduate students throughout their careers here at Georgetown. Please review the resources below in addition to any other policies and guidelines as directed by university faculty and staff. Graduate School Policies

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences establishes minimum requirements for admission and the award of degrees; departments and programs are encouraged to set higher standards. Students should therefore familiarize themselves with all the rules, regulations, and procedures relevant to their pursuit of a Graduate School degree, including those published in the Graduate School Bulletin.

Other University regulations, such as the registration schedule and withdrawal deadlines published each semester by the University Registrar, must also be observed. In addition, recipients of Graduate School financial aid must abide by the terms of their obligation statement.

University Policies

The Code of Student Conduct contains information on the structure of the University discipline system, how to file a complaint, administrative actions, judicial hearings, the appeals process and the records retention policy.

Institutional Diversity, Equity & Affirmative Action

The mission of the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Affirmative Action is to promote a deep understanding and appreciation among the diverse members of the University community to result in justice and equality in educational, employment and contracting opportunities, as well as to lead efforts to create an inclusive academic and work environment.

Technology Policies & Resources

Because Georgetown University considers the protection of University information a critical priority, the University Information Security Office endeavors to protect by providing critical information security services and education to the GU community, equipping students, faculty and staff with the tools to better protect computers and data.

Title IX / Sexual Misconduct

This resource is designed to support students, faculty and staff on issues relating to sexual misconduct, including options for getting immediate help; the University's policies against sexual misconduct; how to report sexual misconduct; and ways to get involved.

Travel Policies

The Traveler's Resource was created to serve members of the Georgetown community who travel. This site compiles information on University resources and policies for all travelers, including funding sources, insurance coverage, health, safety and logistical tips as well as financial policies and procedures.
