The Georgetown Bipartisan Coalition hosts a variety of events throughout the year to bring people of diverse political backgrounds together to discuss policy issues important to our country and foster understandings acorss ideologies.
The Georgetown Bipartisan Summit
Our Bipartisan Summit is held annually in March, and is the Summit Coordinator's capstone project. It is GBC's flagship event, and is the culimination of the year's programming, hosting a variety of different schools from the DMV and beyond. The Summit attracts distinguished political speakers and figures, workshops for students to be able to learn and practice skills in the realm of Bipartisanship, and plentiful opportunities for networking.
The Bipartisan Summit will take place on Saturday, March 28th from 9am-3pm in the Healy Family Student Center in the Social Room.
Be sure to register and put it on your Gcal early!
Debates With College Republicans + Democrats
Our signature events include our Debates.
In the Fall, we host an Upperclassmen Debate, and in the Spring, we host a Freshman Debate between the Georgetown University College Democrats (GUCD) and the Georgetown University College Republicans (GUCR).
Topics usually range from Economic Affairs, Domestic Policy, Foreign Policy, and more. These are usually are GBC's most attended events, bringing the entire Georgetown campus together in the spirit of productive, yet competetive debate.
Keep posted on our socials to sign up to watch!
Dinner Series
Biweekly, GBC will host a small number of General Body Members for a home-cooked meal in a board member's apartment as part of its Dinner Series.Planned by our Director of Membership, these dinners serve as low-stakes, intimate settings where members can discuss politics, campus life, or anything they would like!
At the beginning of the semester, you will be given the opportunity to sign up for a dinner series, and then will be invited to one based on what best works in your schedule.
These events are a fan favorite, as we have many board members with an affinity for cooking, and will cater meals to the preferences and dietary restrictions of guests involved. Several past themes have included Italian, Mexican, American, and Korean meals.
Check our communications at the beginning of each semester for when the Fall 2026 Dinner Series registration form becomes available.
Off-Campus Site Visits
Every Month, GBC arranges Site Visits to different political and historical landmarks in D.C., planned by our Director of Programming. These Site Visits are intended to get students out of the Georgetown Bubble, to encourage students make friends outside of their political background, and to learn something about the politics and history of the United States.
Off-Campus Site Visits occur approximately once a month, and are open to all GBC General Body Members. Food and transportation is typically covered by us!
Roundtables & Standpoint Workshops
In addition to our signature monthly programs, GBC hosts several dialogue focused events like our Roundtables and Standpoints. Led by our Director of Dialogue, Roundtables and Standpoints are meant to bring different perspectives together to discuss the foremots issues in current political affairs, with an emphasis on particularly devisive topics.
Roundtables follow a standard discussion format, with a question being posed by our moderator and later addressed by guests who are called on to speak. Roundtables broach topics at every corner of the political climate, but draw emphasis from current events.
Standpoints are small scale, invitation-based events that follow a Jubilee-style "Middle Ground" structure. Examples may include discussions based on Immigration Enforcement, transparency in the Media, Middle-Eastern affairs, and more. These topics are constantly evolving based on the political events the world brings.
9/11 Memorial Flag Planting
Every year on September 11th, The Georgetown Bipartisan Coalition (GBC) partners with the Georgetown University College Democrats (GUCD) and Georgetown University College Republicans (GUCR) to honor the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Every year, our members wake up early, alongside members of GUCD. GUCR, and the Georgetown Ciommunity to plant flags around Healy and Copely Lawn. At the end of the day we take these flags down as well.
This annual tradition is a beautiful way to bridge the divide at Georgetown. It emphasizes that all violence is a tragedy, with grief shared across party lines.
Exact times will be announced on our socials.
