In response to the increased violence against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and the recent attack in Atlanta and Cherokee County, we offer our solidarity. We grieve the lives taken and we hear the calls for justice.
We strongly condemn all forms of racism and targeted violence. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, violence against AAPI communities has surged.
Diversity and Inclusion at Georgetown (DiG) is committed to promoting the values of inclusion in a global and professional context. Moving forward, we strive to advocate for greater justice and tolerance towards Asian-American communities and people of Asian descent. We will hold our community accountable for any actions that perpetuate anti-Asian hate, xenophobia and misogyny.
We echo the sentiments of the Asian Studies Program and seek to foster an inclusive environment which elevates the talent and voices of our diverse student body.
We reiterate our commitment to equity and encourage students in need of mental health resources to take advantage of this list of resources for racial trauma curated by the Mental Health Coalition, and to reach out to Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) at Georgetown.
In solidarity,
Diversity and Inclusion at Georgetown (DiG)
