Capstone Idea due: April 14, 2023
Capstone Summary due: May 26, 2023
Capstone Proposal due: to be decided by each team
Teams are required to develop and begin implementation of a Capstone Project during the 6-month period following the completion of the Advancing Racial Justice and Equity in Youth Legal Systems Certificate Program. The Capstone Project is a set of actions that participants will design and undertake within their jurisdiction to initiate or continue collaborative efforts related to advance racial justice and equity in the youth legal system and related systems of care.Â
CJJR must approve the project for successful completion of the Certificate Program and acceptance into the Fellows Network, composed of Certificate Program alumni whose Capstone Projects have been approved by CJJR.
Please submit a brief description (no more than a couple of paragraphs) of your potential Capstone Project by April 14, 2023 that addresses the following questions:
What issue, specific to racial justice and equity in your youth legal system, do you seek to address?
What reform efforts might you undertake to advance racial justice and equity as it relates to the issue described in Question 1?
What barriers have arisen in prior attempts to address this issue? Please describe one to two major challenges your community encountered.
Please review these guidelines carefully for detailed information about the requirements for your Capstone Idea, Summary, and Proposal. This will also provide you with important deadlines and specific criteria to include in your submissions to CJJR.
As part of your Capstone Proposal, we ask that you also complete the above chart.
Please note that the Capstone Summary and Capstone Proposal questions incorporate the Community Development Model and PAST Framework prework readings. Summaries of these readings can be found here.
Please use the following supplemental materials to guide the development of your Capstone Project:
