UBEd Library Hosts Successful "LibRead Lang ang Magbasa" Interpretative Reading Contest
On November 26, 2025, the UBEd Library proudly hosted its first-ever interpretative reading contest, "LibRead Lang ang Magbasa," which proved to be an exciting and memorable event. From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the library was filled with enthusiastic participants showcasing their impressive reading skills. This event also marked a significant milestone for the Library Department as it was the first-ever collaboration with both the English and Filipino Departments.
The contest featured various categories across multiple grade levels, where participants brought stories to life through dynamic and expressive reading. The event was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Library, English, and Filipino departments, with special thanks to the hardworking judges and organizers who ensured the event's success.
The panel of judges was led by Ms. Leilani E. Castro, LPT., the former Filipino Department Head, and Chairman of the Board of Judges. Joining her were Ms. Melody Jane Castro and Ms. Madeleine Dela Pena, both of whom contributed valuable insights to the judging process. Dr. Josefina P. Magno, former Math teacher and consultant, served as the official tabulator, ensuring that the judging process was smooth and fair.
The competition spanned multiple levels, and the results were as follows:

That Mrs. Gavina A. Franco, the dedicated Senior Library Staff at GJC Library, has successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers in March 2023. Her hard work and commitment to her education, as demonstrated by her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a major in Social Studies, have truly paid off. As the active adviser of the GJC Library Club (GLC), she continues to inspire and guide others. Her achievements serve as a reminder that perseverance and dedication can lead to remarkable accomplishments. Congratulations, Mrs. Franco, and we wish you continued success in your professional journey.
General de Jesus College congratulates 2 of our faculty who have just released their authored books.
Dr. Bernadette O. Gallardo, Dean of Education / Quality Assurance Officer, has just published her book entitled "The Teaching Profession". Her co-author in this book is Mr. Jonathan L. Mañas.
Dr. Bernadette Ortinero-Gallardo has 29 years of experience as an educator in the field. She is the current Dean of the College of Education at General de Jesus College (GJC). She is a licensed professional teacher who ranked number 17 in the 1993 Philippine Board Examination for Teachers (PBET), now known as the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).
As a consistent honor student, she graduated as class valedictorian and Magna Cum Laude, with a degree of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in History in 1993. She completed her Master's Degree: Major of Arts in Social Science Teaching at Philippine Normal University and a Master of Arts in Education Major in Sociology at the College of the Immaculate Conception.
She finished her Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a concentration in Educational Management from the College of the Immaculate Conception with the distinction of "Bene Meritus".
She is a member and officer of various professional organizations. She is the Secretary of Provincial Networking Boards for Teacher Education (PNBTE); Secretary of the Council of Deans for the College of Education (CDCE); Member of the Accrediting Team - Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU, ACI); Member of the Philippine Association of Institutions for Research, Inc. (PAIR); Member of the Association of Scholarly Editors; Member of Speech Communication of the Philippines; Member of the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators, Inc. (PAFTE); and a Lifetime Member of the Philippine Historical Association (PHA).

Mr. Antonio Delgado, Data Privacy Officer and a Faculty of GJC, has also released his book entitled. "Outline Introduction to philosophy of the human person". This book aims to develop in Filipino senior high school students the capacity for critical and analytical reflection from the perspective of a holistic and profound vision of life.
Antonio T. Delgado is pursuing his Juris Doctor degree at the Arellano University School of Law. He obtained his Bachelor of Secondary Education degree from General de Jesus College, where he is currently teaching Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person in senior high school, Araling Panlipunan in junior high school, and social studies courses.
