EFL:

Summary of learning:

The students were given a scenario based on the plot related to the play. The students were asked to rehearse it in small groups. The students were further guided to create their own scenario, decide on simple dialogues and enact little parts from the given scenario.

Tasks to be completed (optional):

Plan the plot of the play that they will be creating based on the class discussions.

Maths

Summary of learning -

Students learnt how to draw cubic and reciprocal graphs. pp. 127- 130

Optional Task -

Students worked out the tasks in ppt lessons.

· Cubic Graphs

· Cubic Graphs Word Problems

· Reciprocal Graphs

PBL Project:

Students have started to work on their PBL project about constructing an open rectangular box out of recycled carton material. In this project, students are trying to apply concepts they learnt in math specifically cubic graphs.

Science

Biology

Summary of learning - In biology this week students continued with their project theme, ‘There is a worldwide ban on burning fossil fuels. You have been selected to take charge of finding alternative energy resources for the UAE.’ They reviewed the concept of cloning and explored the detailed steps involved in cloning of mice. Students linked these concepts to the project question which will be showcased in the week beginning 27th June (textbook pages 273-274).

Task to be completed - For their homework this week students should conduct their own research into micropropagation and its benefits. They should particularly explore the nutrient value of food produced using this technique and its sustainability. Students should summarise what they have learned in no more than 100 words but as many pictures as they like. They could also continue to work on their project as part of their homework.

Chemistry:

Summary of learning - In chemistry this week students continued with their project theme, ‘There is a worldwide ban on burning fossil fuels. You have been selected to take charge of finding alternative energy resources for the UAE.’ They learned that alkenes are unsaturated compounds and were able to explain the combustion and addition reactions of alkenes . Students linked these concepts to the project question which will be showcased in the week beginning 27th June (textbook pages 282-285).

Task to be completed - For their homework this week students should read textbook pages 282-285 and summarise what they have learned in no more than 100 words but as many pictures as they like. They could also continue to work on their project as part of their homework.

Physics

Summary of learning - In physics this week students continued with their project theme, ‘There is a worldwide ban on burning fossil fuels. You have been selected to take charge of finding alternative energy resources for the UAE.’ They learned about momentum and collision and linked this concept to the project question which will be showcased in the week beginning 27th June (textbook pages 44-46).

Task to be completed - For their homework this week students should complete questions 4a-e on page 57 of their textbook. Students should complete these questions in their notebook and upload an image of their responses to the assignment within their physics Google Classroom. Students could also continue to work on their project as part of their homework.

Geography

Summary of learning: In continuation with their project theme for Geography, students recalled the aim and the steps of PBL. During this week they learned about slum management and the role of urban stakeholders. Students linked these concepts to the project Big question. They researched the aim and the importance of urban stakeholders to gain more information.

Task to be completed: Illustrate how and why the government may have different views on slums?

History

Summary of learning: Students analysed several examples of Nazi propaganda to determine how it communicates powerful messages about who should be included in and who should be excluded from German society.

Students also recognised that the effects of propaganda are more complex than simple brainwashing, and that Hitler succeeded because many German people shared some of the beliefs that were transmitted through Nazi propaganda.

Task to be completed - What does learning about the choices people made during the Weimar Republic, the rise of the Nazi Party, teach us about the power and impact of our choices today?

How do explicit and implicit messages in the media (including television, the internet, film, radio, etc.) influence people’s beliefs, feelings, and actions?
