Week Six - October 4th, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians,
In case you missed the notifications, the registration period for Week Without Walls has now opened for our international and residential trips. Parents have until Oct 24 (5pm) to register interest and pay the deposit, so if you haven't decided which trip your child will attend yet, please do make that decision soon.
Our Grade 12 students commenced their ‘Check in’ meetings with a mentor from the Secondary Leadership Team this week. All Grade 12’s, in coming weeks, will be invited to a one to one chat to discuss successes and challenges they are currently experiencing. The role of the mentor is to help Grade 12 students identify and achieve academic success and personal growth, support a belief students have the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities, and assist in equipping students with the vital tools to perform to their highest capability. Mentors also act as sounding boards, challenge students to avoid old and unproductive mindsets and to uncover ‘blindspots’. We are excited by this initiative, and the Grade 12’s I have already met seem to appreciate the opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences.
We hosted our first University Fair this week, with over 15 universities presenting to students in Grade 10 and 11. Institutions such as Arizona State University, University of Bristol and Queen Mary University of London were well received by our students who engaged with our visitors and had pressing questions answered. Thanks must go to Ms Meena and Ms Rejina for organising this event for our students.
Finally this week,we had the pleasure of bringing our Grade 11 families together on campus for the annual Potluck celebration. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet, connect, and experience the sense of community that makes our school special. Students were enthusiastic to introduce their parents to classmates while everyone enjoyed a delightful assortment of cultural dishes. We deeply appreciate the efforts of Miss Alisha, Mr. Lewis, Ms.Victoria, and the entire Grade 11 Homeroom team for making this a memorable event!
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Kind regards
Ms Amanda
