Week Five - September 27th, 2024
Dear Parents,
Our new sports hall will open on Monday 30th! The acoustics are complete, final touches are in process and lines have been marked out for the courts. I shall let you know as soon as the first students enter the hall. This will benefit all PE programmes and after school clubs.
It was a pleasure to meet parents this week at my, ‘Meet the Principal: Find out more about the IB’ session. Our first session (which included Arabic translation possibility) was a success and I thank the parents who attended. I shall be offering more sessions, with translation into other languages.
I have a polite request please. You will notice that both primary and secondary school teachers and leaders have a dress code, and that our students have a school uniform that we adhere to. We would politely ask that parents also dress appropriately when in the school building, as a matter of respect to all. Thank you for your attention to this. We have a sign outside the main entrance as below:
I would like to share with all parents a useful document from KHDA. Digital Dubai has recently launched a new Parental Control Guidebook to help parents set up controls on their children’s social media accounts, monitor their online activities and protect them from potential risks. You can download the guidebook through the following link: www.digitaldubai.ae/knowledge-hub/publications/parental-control-guide
Finally, I would like to thank Ms Aamna for organizing some engaging professional development for our staff. Ms Hannah Wilson, from Diverse Educators, spoke to the teaching staff and administrative leads on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. The sessions were thought-provoking and aligned well with our aim to make everyone in our community (staff, students and parents) feel a sense of belonging.
Kind regards and have a good weekend,
Something BIG coming your way.
Stay tuned!
The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.

Kind reminder to ensure students accounts have enough credit loaded so they do not face issues purchasing food.
