This year’s Secondary Arts Week at GIS was a vibrant celebration of the incredible talent, imagination, and creativity of our students. We had a dynamic lineup of events, including a beautiful Visual Arts Exhibition, powerful Drama performances, soulful Music showcases, and the always-popular GIS Has Talent show.
Students also enjoyed daily Music Mornings, screenings from our Film Club, and a lively Bobblehead Sculpture Parade that certainly turned heads. Each event was a testament to the passion and hard work our students at GIS bring to the Arts.
It was truly inspiring to see so many young artists share their voice, vision, and originality across such a wide range of platforms. A huge thank you to all the students and staff who made this week come to life.

Grade 11
During term three of Grade 11, Diploma students complete their TOK Exhibition. In the TOK Exhibition students display a selection of three objects which are linked to a specific prompt. These are accompanied by a commentary of 300 words for each object to explain their choice of objects. The process enables students to explore how Theory of Knowledge manifests itself in the real world. Through the Exhibition, students demonstrate their understanding of knowledge and their skills in writing in specific detail whilst simultaneously being clear and succinct.
In the attached slides, students have presented their chosen prompt, three objects and a ninety second audio recording in which they justify the inclusion of each of their objects.

What an incredible showcase of student talent at this year’s GIS Has Talent show! With 10 fantastic acts ranging from singing and dancing to rapping, piano, and drums, our students truly wowed the audience. A huge shoutout to our amazing hosts, Ved and Khalid, for keeping the energy high throughout the show. Well done to all our brave and brilliant performers – you made us proud!

Grades 9 and 10
Grade 9 Drama students took to the stage with Hoodie by Lindsay Price, a powerful ensemble play that explores the struggle of identity in a world full of labels. Through a mix of humour and honesty, the students brought to life the voices of teens navigating expectations, self-doubt, and the pressure to fit in. This performance challenged both actors and audience to reflect on what we wear and what we hide beneath. Hoodie reminds us that behind every label is a story. We all wear masks, but true strength lies in embracing our full selves.
Grade 10 Drama students performed Tough City Prone to Rain, a compelling and poetic play that dives deep into a community shaken by loss, memory, and the will to move forward. With shifting perspectives and layered monologues, the piece invites audiences to piece together a story about grief, resilience, and the people we lean on when the skies turn grey.
