Week Thirty Six - July 3rd, 2025
Dear Parents & Guardians
As we wrap up the 2024–2025 academic year, it’s hard not to reflect on what an exceptional final week it’s been, full of celebration, spirit, and shared success.
We began with our Secondary Academic Awards Evenings, honouring student achievement across Grades 6 to 11. These ceremonies were a powerful reminder of the hard work, growth, and resilience our learners have shown throughout the year. Whether or not a student received an award, we hope they can look back and say, "I’ve improved, I’ve grown,”. This shows success in such a meaningful way.
It was also wonderful to welcome our Grade 5 students into the Secondary School for their Step Up Days this week. Their excitement was infectious, and we look forward to officially welcoming them in August as Grade 6 students.
The final assemblies this week brought us together to reflect, laugh, and look ahead. And of course, the week wouldn’t have been complete without our much-loved Staff v Student Basketball Match. For the first time ever, the students clinched the win, well played, and well deserved!
End of Year Reports will be released later today via the GEMS Connect App. Please also refer to yesterday’s communication for details about tomorrow’s optional Parent-Teacher Conferences, which can be booked directly with individual teachers. Staff will be available between 8:00–9:00am and 10:00am–12:00pm.
And finally, a personal note from me.
After four unforgettable years leading our Secondary School, it’s time for me to say goodbye. GIS is a community like no other, resilient, caring, and endlessly committed to the growth and wellbeing of its students. It has been my privilege to work alongside such talented educators and to partner with so many supportive families.
Thank you for trusting me with your children, for your encouragement, and for the many moments of joy and learning we’ve shared. While I may be heading just down the road, I will carry this community with me always.
Wishing you all a restful summer and a bright start to the year ahead.
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
Head of Secondary School
