Week Thirty Four - June 20th, 2025
Dear Parents,
This week has seen two major awards events, the primary and secondary sports awards. My thanks to Mr Jason, Mr Ryan and Mr Chris and their teams for the hard work in organisation. It is wonderful to see not only the most valuable players rewarded, but also those who have shown dedication and commitment to their chosen sports. We all know the benefits of sport on mental health and even academic performance, so I say well done to everyone who is keeping active and looking to improve on their skill set and fitness. Well done and keep up the exercise during the summer!
Although nearing the end of term, Ms Wafaa, our Arabic Head of Department in secondary school, has continued to offer the most powerful professional development to Arabic and Islamic Studies teachers across the whole GEMS group. On Saturday, she delivered a well attended session entitled, ‘Empowering Excellence in Arabic Language Teaching’. My thanks to Ms Wafaa for keeping a real focus on pedagogy.
This morning, I was honoured to present certificates at the Grade 5 Completion Ceremony. I would like to thank our students for their positive attitude throughout, for supporting one another, to Ms Aamna , Ms Rebekah and the team, and to our parents for turning out in such great numbers. Well done to everyone, and best of luck as you move on to MYP!
Finally, some good news when you recommend our school - you can now avail double the ambassador points to save money for yourselves. I hope this is useful.
Kind regards and have a good weekend,
The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.
GIS house color t-shirts and swim wear will be available to purchase from threads.
