Week Thirty Three - June 13th, 2025
Dear Parents & Guardians
As the school year draws closer to its finale, our students continue to embrace opportunity, challenge, and leadership across all corners of campus.
This week marked a significant milestone with our Grade 10 students sitting formal exams for the very first time. A powerful stepping stone towards their final two years of learning, these exams not only assessed their understanding, but also gave them a chance to build exam confidence and academic resilience. Well done to all students for their approach and preparation, and thank you to Ms Sandy for the coordination of the papers.
In another first, our Debate Club hosted its inaugural event, bringing the art of persuasive speaking and critical thinking centre stage. The motion was "This House Believes that social media influencers should be taxed based on their following to fund social causes." Well done to Sara F, Vihaan G, Sara S, Sarrah S, Loyan D and Dario A who did an amazing job in arguing for and against the motion. Huge congratulations also to Iman Bint Fiaz for her exceptional organisation and leadership throughout the year. Thanks also to Mr Matthew for his unwavering guidance and encouragement, and applause to our winning team, Sara S, Sara F, and Vihaan G, who delivered compelling arguments with poise and confidence.
Our Elevate initiative took an inspiring turn this week as we welcomed Ms Fahima Falaknaz, the UAE’s first female boxer, to speak with a group of our students. Her story of determination, discipline and breaking barriers resonated deeply and reminded us all of the power of purpose and passion. This event was a student led initiative, congratulations to those involved in the planning and preparation (Sara S & Mr Lewis).
We also had the pleasure of welcoming our Grade 5 parents to campus for the Grade 5 to Grade 6 Transition Morning on Tuesday. From informative curriculum overviews to a guided tour of our secondary spaces, the morning was designed to offer insight, reassurance, and excitement for the journey ahead. Thank you to our fantastic MYP student ambassadors for leading the way with such confidence, and to our Transition Team for coordinating this important milestone.
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
