Week Thirty Two - May 31st, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians
I do hope you found yesterday’s PTC’s informative and gained further clarity around your son or daughter’s current academic standing. I would like to thank you for giving up time from your busy schedule to chat to your child’s teachers. I would also like to thank staff for working well into the evening to ensure important information is discussed.
I would like to thank the StuELT for working with our PYP friends in arranging a Movie NIght on Monday evening. Students had a really enjoyable time watching the Minions movie and it was wonderful to see the cross collaboration between primary and secondary students.
On a more solemn note, our Grade 11 students came together on Tuesday morning to remember a passed member of the Class of 2025, Ahmed Idris; a much loved and respected member of the cohort, who tragically passed away last summer. In his memory, a framed Class of 2025 Leavers jacket was hung on the wall in the Secondary Reception, and his family were gifted with his jacket also. We hope that the jacket will be a source of strength and a reminder of the impact Ahmed had on the world.
Thank you to our amazing Arabic team who hosted our first Grade 6 Arabic Exhibition this week. Parents were invited to attend their son or daughter’s class to see first hand the amazing achievement the students have made this year. The Grade 6’s, while nervous, were so excited to show off their talents! Well done Ms Wafaa and team!
Finally this week I would like to remind parents that the final day of school is July 4th. While assessments are being completed in coming weeks, learning for the next academic year will continue. Students in Grade 11 are in the middle of a two year course, hence normal classes resume as soon as their exams are wrapped up in mid-June. Further to this, information was included in last week’s newsletter regarding the ‘Pre DP/CP’ schedule that will come into effect for Grade 10 students. Therefore, we ask that students remain in school until July 4th. Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
Head of Secondary School
