Well-being practices in the classroom
During the last two weeks the Well-being Ambassadors have been involved in two initiatives:
Self-esteem workshops for their class
Focus group interviews with boys and girls about their feelings on school
Self-esteem workshops
Below you can see pictures of the type of videos and activities they shared - self control and self regulation; regulating the inner fear wolf and peace wolf.
Focus interviews
Some well-being ambassadors interviewed peers from their class and ask them series of questions to understand what they enjoy about school and what could be improved in regards to well-being
The music team has also been busy hosting daily concerts for every class and our PYP choir. It was wonderful to welcome the families to see a small snapshot of some of the wonderful songs and music skills the students learn throughout the year from learning about dynamics and rhythm to writing and choreographing their own songs! Mornings have been busy with flash mobs of singers and performers around the school.
Grade 4 and 5 students have been demonstrating their hard work and preparation, performing their plays in groups at the Black Box Theatre. Parents even got involved with a special workshop just for them focussing on art therapy!
Thank you to all of the teachers, families, and students for their involvement in a really special week. If you have more photos to share to don't forget to tag #weartsgis!
Term 3 Connect Eds
The purpose of Connect Eds is to support our parent community with information related to social, emotional, and academic for their children.
We have a plethora of knowledge and expertise in our Primary School Team, and they will provide practical information and strategies.
The parent community is an integral part of GIS, and we feel it is essential to make them part of our learning community.
We hope to see many of you at the Connect Eds, and closer to the time, we will send you more information on the ConnectEds in our Newsletter for times, locations, and facilitators.
Parents have all received a notification to sign up for the Toddle platform. This is an exciting enhancement to our parent communication, and this year you will receive weekly updates through the Toddle platform.
This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
