Week Thirty One - May 23rd, 2025
Dear Parents,
We are delighted that our coding teams represented UAE in the ‘Codeavour AI & Coding International Showcase’ in Qatar on May 15-17. Our teams competed in the Senior Section against 500+ teams from around the world and demonstrated outstanding skills and creativity. One of our teams received the ‘Judges’ Appreciation Award’! Very well done to Sanchita B (G7), Anannya R (G8) and Bhadra A (G10) on this feat. My thanks to Ms Sheeba and Mr Anaswer for their encouragement and guidance.
This week at school we have been assessed for our inclusivity, by Inclusivity Quality Mark. Ms Sarah Linari and Ms Elisabeth Pope, both highly experienced assessors from the UK, spent time with students, parents and staff, and engaged in lesson observation and learning walks. They truly analysed the culture of the school and how well embedded our ethos is. KHDA is focusing on inclusivity so we were delighted to welcome this expert team. I shall be sending parents the full report as soon as it arrives. Initial feedback has been extremely positive and I thank Ms Hannah for the preparation, and all members of our community for making GIS so special.
On Thursday evening, I was honoured to represent GIS at the MENA School Excellence Awards. I am so pleased to say that our school was nominated and then shortlisted for Most Innovative School in the UAE.
Finally, on Thursday we enjoyed the final walk through school by our Grade 12 graduates. This is a meaningful and symbolic event, known as the ‘Senior Walk’ and is a way for all students and staff at GIS to say goodbye to a wonderful cohort of young people. They have made us very proud through their school careers. Their support for each other and dynamic approach was evident in their final assembly. For the next stage, it is they have been received an extraordinary 678 admissions offers, along with 34 million dollars in scholarships. I shall be celebrating their achievements at their Graduation Ceremony on Friday and will report on that next week.
Kind regards and have a good weekend,

The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.
GIS house color t-shirts and swim wear will be available to purchase from threads.
