Week Thirty One - May 23rd, 2025
Dear Primary Families,
This week we were delighted to host our Inclusive Quality Mark (IQM) visit, and I am pleased to share that the visiting team left with a deep appreciation for what makes our school so special. They were highly impressed by the strength of our community, the positive and inclusive atmosphere, and the way wellbeing is prioritised for all. Your contributions, both big and small, are part of what makes our learning environment so nurturing and inspiring.
Next week, we are thrilled to be celebrating PYP Arts Week! The school will come alive with art installations, workshops and the much-anticipated PYP Musical, Finding Nemo Junior, which will take place on May 28 and 29 in the MPH! This is a joyful celebration of student creativity and expression, and we cannot wait to share their incredible talents with you. It’s sure to be a memorable week, and we hope to see many of you in the audience and around campus taking in all the excitement.
Looking ahead, please be reminded that our midterm break will take place from June 2–4. As of now, Eid dates projected for June 5–6 have not been confirmed by the UAE government and KHDA. We will keep you informed as soon as an official announcement is made. If those days are not designated as Eid holidays, we may be in school on one or both of them.
As we approach the end of the academic year, a gentle reminder that the last day of school for students is July 2, with optional Professional Teacher Conferences (PTCs) on July 3. While we understand that some families are considering early departures, we strongly encourage students to attend through the end of the year. Missing school, especially during assessment periods, may result in report cards that reflect "insufficient evidence" in some areas of learning. Furthermore, attendance records will reflect missed days, which could have implications under KHDA guidelines.
On a lighter note, we're excited about our Red Day up cycling initiative—a fun and meaningful way to focus on sustainability and creative reuse. Please see the flyer below for more details about the initiative that has been developed by our PYP student leaders. As temperatures continue to rise, we’re brainstorming ways to make indoor days just as enjoyable as outdoor play. We’d love your input! Please feel free to connect with your child’s HRT to share any fun, engaging ideas for hot weather alternatives.
Thank you once again for being such a vital part of our school family. Wishing you a restful weekend!
Warm regards,
Sarah McLean
