Week Thirty - May 17th, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians
Today marks the end of the DP World Exams! After three gruelling weeks, our Grade 12 students finally get to relax and pack away the books (until heading off to university in a few months!) Well done to each and every member of the Class of 2024. We know the dedication and effort that you have put into your studies, and we look forward to celebrating with you next week at the Senior Walk, Graduation and Prom! In chatting to some of you in recent days, I know that the one thing you are looking forward to is getting some much deserved rest. Enjoy!
Students in the MYP have also been busy this week with sitting MAP and NGRT tests. The data generated from such tests is used extensively by teachers to ensure that students are challenged and stretched in classes. Hence the emphasis on such standardized tests throughout the school year.
Thank you to Ms Sandy, our MYP Coordinator, who led another very informative ConnectED for parents this week. Sandy spoke at length about preparing our students for the future in the MYP. She walked parents through how a ‘typical’ MYP class operates and addressed parent questions, offering tips and methods of support. Thank you also to parents who gave up time in their busy schedule to attend this session.
If you are a parent of a Grade 10 student please note that our Pre-DP/CP courses will begin on June 24th and will run until the final day of the academic year, July 4th. Grade 10 students will switch to a Senior School timetable and will participate in introductory classes based on the subjects that they have chosen for Grade 11. These classes will be taught by our DP & CP teachers and will provide students with some foundation skills and content ready for the beginning of Grade 11 in August.
I would like to remind parents that there will be online Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs) for Secondary Students on Thursday May 30. Teachers will be available from 8 am until 8pm to chat to parents and students. Further information will be shared shortly with regard to setting up meetings, but please place the date in your calendar. Grade 11 students will be on study leave on this day and Grade 6 to 10 students will not be on campus.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
Head of Secondary School
