Week Twenty Nine - May 9th, 2025
Dear Parents,
I am pleased to let you know that GIS has been shortlisted for the MENA School Excellence Award for Digital Innovation. Here is the wording in the shortlisting:
On the subject of awards and commendations, I was delighted to see Demid M (Grade 5) in my office this week, with his published book! He showed me the Russian and English language version and I was so impressed. Well done Demid and keep up the literary career!
On the subject of literature, we had three winners of the Family First Poetry Competition and I commend Elina A (KG2), Shaurya JB (G4) and Riya U (G7) for their creative thinking and celebration of family values.
This week has been Concert Week in our Primary School and I say well done to all our students who have performed so confidently! I would like to thank our parents for the huge support of your children’s education and to recognize, as we do, that there is more to a school education than the ‘core subjects’. The arts have such an important role to play, in creativity, teamwork, confidence building and performance skills, so it was delightful to see this on full display this week. My thanks to the Music Team for all their hard work and preparation!
Kind regards and have a good weekend,
Cool off for a cause! Grab your ice lollies for just 5 DHS and help support the Support Staff Appreciation Lunch. As the school year winds down, let’s come together as a community to thank our amazing support staff for all they do. See the poster below for details!
The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.
GIS house color t-shirts and swim wear will be available to purchase from threads.
