Week Twenty Eight - May 2nd, 2025
Dear Parents & Guardians
This week marked a significant milestone for our Class of 2025 as they embarked on their IB World Exams journey. We want to take a moment to commend our students not only for the countless hours they’ve dedicated to preparing but also for the calm focus and maturity they’ve shown in this first week of assessments. These exams represent the culmination of years of hard work and growth, and we are incredibly proud of the way our seniors have stepped into this final chapter. We wish them continued success and strength in the weeks ahead.
While our exam halls were filled with quiet determination, our dance floors were alive with rhythm and energy over the weekend at the Middle East Dance Championships. Competing against dance schools from across the UAE, Jordan, Cyprus, and Hungary, our talented GIS Dance Squad dazzled with exceptional performances across multiple categories, including overall 3rd place in the Crew category! Congratulations to these Crew members - Selda, Amelia, Andy & Vanessa (G8); Sonika & Olivia (G9); and Chewon & Adilya (G10)
Other results speak for themselves:
Commercial Hip Hop Solo: 1st Place – Selda & 4th Place – Amelia
Commercial Duo: 3rd Place – Chloe & Adilya
Contemporary Duo: 1st Place – Selda & Amelia
Street Duo: 2nd Place – Chloe & Adilya & 5th Place – Amelia & Andy
Congratulations to all our dancers for their dedication, artistry, and exceptional representation of GIS on the international stage. A huge thanks also to Ms Amy for training, supporting and guiding the team this year.
Further congratulations must go to Ms Sheeba and the Robotics students. At the recent EduStream Regional STEAM Champions Event, two of our student teams soared to the top in the Drone Competition, Space Challenge. Congratulations to:
Winners: Santhosh & Shaurya (G9)
1st Runners-Up: Andrei & Sarvesh (G7)
These brilliant minds will represent GIS at the National Championships on May 3rd. We are incredibly proud of their innovation, teamwork, and technical expertise.
But the innovation didn’t stop there!
We are thrilled to share that GIS made a powerful impression at the Codeavour 6.0 – UAE National Championship, also held last weekend. This competition challenges students to tackle real-world problems using Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Programming; sharpening their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
And the results were again outstanding! Congratulations to our amazing teams!
First Place: TEAM Code & Crops - Anannya & Selda (G8), Sanchitha (G7) and Bhadra (G10)
Second Place: Team MECHX - Samrithi, Prajna and Anum (G10)
Both teams have now qualified for the Codeavour International Championship to be held in Qatar in later this month. We congratulate them and wish them the very best.
From academic rigor and artistic brilliance to technological innovation, GIS students continue to shine. We are proud beyond words.
Enjoy the week ahead.
Kind regards
