Week Eighteen - January 31st, 2025
Dear Parents & Guardians,
What a remarkable week it has been in the Secondary School! From international adventures to academic deep dives, our students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity, and resilience.
Our Week Without Walls was an outstanding success, offering students unforgettable experiences across the globe. From the sandy shores of Zanzibar, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia to the spiritual journey of Umrah, students immersed themselves in new cultures and challenges. Meanwhile, those who stayed closer to home took on equally thrilling residential trips, including scuba diving in Fujiarah and adventure camps at Challenging Adventure, Nirvana, and Bear Grylls in RAK.
Day trips were no less exciting—whether it was perfecting their skills on the football field, refining their culinary talents at SCAFA and MasterChef, or engaging in creative problem-solving at Eedama, our students demonstrated their adaptability and eagerness to learn in every setting.
Additionally, many of our students took part in internships, gaining real-world experience in a variety of fields. The feedback from employers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising our students’ professionalism, curiosity, and work ethic. It is wonderful to see them making such a strong impression in professional environments!
Back on campus, our Interdisciplinary Units (IDU) week saw creativity and critical thinking come to life through exciting cross-curricular projects:
Grade 6 embarked on a virtual journey through Arabia, discovering its rich history and culture.
Grade 7 explored the power of Product and Persuasion, analyzing how marketing shapes consumer choices.
Grade 8 examined the Science of Health, delving into human biology and well-being.
Grade 9 took on the challenge of crafting a compelling World Cup Bid for 2032, combining research, economics, and persuasive writing.
Grade 10 engaged in a fascinating fusion of Mathematics and Islamic Studies, uncovering the deep connections between these disciplines.
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly today’s IDU Exhibition, where students proudly showcased their projects. Seeing their hard work and creativity on display was truly inspiring!
While Grades 6 to 10 were immersed in IDU projects, our Grade 11 and 12 students dedicated their week to a variety of impactful projects, demonstrating leadership, initiative, and dedication. A huge well done to them for their hard work and commitment!
Our students continue to shine in all areas, and we are thrilled to share some incredible sporting and STEM successes from the past week!
As I mentioned last week, our Jaguar Football and Basketball teams were competing in the GAAC tournament in Doha. A huge congratulations to our student-athletes who gave it their all, demonstrating teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. Their hard work and dedication paid off with some fantastic results:
Girls Football – 2nd place
Boys Football & Boys Basketball – Both 3rd place
Girls Basketball – 5th place
We are so proud of each and every player—your passion and commitment continue to make our school shine in the sporting arena!
A huge congratulations to our incredible First Lego League team, who secured 1st place in the Robot Performance category—a phenomenal achievement! Competing against strong teams from across the region, they showcased outstanding innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. This talented team, made up of Grade 8 and 10 students—Annaya, Selda, Bhadra, Sanchitha, Andy, Jinu, Parin, and Prajna—demonstrated precision, creativity, and determination throughout the competition. Assisted by Moonkang, Jasim, Lucjan, Samridhi, Chewon and Hishetha, faithfully supporting on the sideline, it is a wonderful achievement. Their hard work has earned them a place in the UAE Finals on February 9th, where they will take on the best teams in the country. We couldn’t be prouder—best of luck in the finals!
A quick reminder that next week is midterm break for all students, providing a well-earned rest after a busy week. Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday Feb 6 and Friday Feb 7, and we encourage all parents to sign up for online meetings with their child’s teachers before Monday to ensure valuable discussions on progress and next steps. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on campus on Monday Feb 10.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable week ahead!
Kind regards
Ms Amanda
