Week Eighteen - January 31st, 2025
Sarah McLean
Head of Primary
Dear Primary Families,
This week, our young performers took the stage and amazed us with their incredible talent in the drama productions! A huge thank you to Ms. Melissa, our dedicated Arts team, and the Grade 4-5 teaching team for their hard work and support in bringing these productions to life. We are so proud of our students and their achievements!
As we approach midterm break, please note that school will be closed on February 3, 4, and 5. We hope you enjoy this time with your family.
Looking ahead, Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs) will take place on February 6-7. These conferences will be held in person on campus. If you are unable to attend in person, please email your child’s teacher in advance to request a virtual meeting link for your scheduled time. During these conferences, teachers will share personalized feedback about the progress your students are making and their next steps in learning; following the PTCs you will also receive a comprehensive S1 Report.
Please also be reminded about the upcoming KG and G2 Concerts the week of Feb 12th. The details are below, and we look forward to seeing you there!
Your Voice Matters - Please help us improve our school by sharing your thoughts in our Net Promoter Score survey. Your insights are vital in shaping a better learning environment for our students. This brief survey will only take a few minutes to complete and will help us understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve. You will have received an email on the 20th January with a link to the survey. Thank you once again for your confidence and support of GIS. "Promoters" reflect positively on our school community.
Finally, we are excited to announce that World Cultures Day (formerly International Day) will be celebrated on February 15! This special event is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the diversity of our GIS community. We encourage families to sign up and support their home country booth. Stay tuned for more details!
Warm regards,
Sarah Mclean
Exciting news!
Last term the Falcon Book Club ECA created a story book in a box, out of recycled materials, for the annual Emirates Festival of Literature Arcadia Book in a Box, a primary school competition. Jack and the beanstalk was the story chosen by the group, who spent many hours collecting suitable recycled materials, designing and creating their artwork. Images and an explanation were sent in to the Literature Foundation with the result that the Falcon book club’s creation has been shortlisted! We are pleased to say we came 2nd in the competition!

This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
