Week Thirteen - November 21st, 2025
Dear members of the GIS community,
This week , we would like to share with you some leadership opportunities that are available for students at the primary. It is a way to involve the students in the primary school as a whole and beyond their classroom. Below we have three students who were happy to share their voice.
Leyla Vyslouzil
My name is Leyla and I’d like to tell you a little about my experience as a Student Council. First, I submitted my video explaining why I could be a great Student Council member. I put in so much effort on the video, taking nearly two days of thinking of what to say. The purpose of me wanting to be on the Student Council was because I love helping people. The Autumn Festival was awesome as I saw smiles on peoples faces and their amazing dance moves and teamwork with the games! We, as Student Council members, discuss concerns or ideas that students may have and try to help. As Student Council, we can also suggest solutions or even discuss what we think will make the school be a place to feel safe and have fun, leaving students wanting to come to school every day! With that, I’m looking forward to the rest of the year filled with fun activities, student voices and more.
Skye Cairo
Hi my name is Skye and i'm a Student Council member. I represent 5B. My role is to be the voice of the students in my class and in my grade. Through the problem box, the Student Council can try to listen and try to solve problems. I am looking forward to organizing events and to helping students across all grade levels to reach their goals. At the last Student Council meeting, we discussed the issues students see and shared possible solutions of how we can solve them. Moving forward, we are going to make a list of responsibilities for each student in the school, whether in the canteen or in the class. Our current focus is hallway transitions from homeroom to specialist lessons.
Jesus Landeaux
Hi, my name is Jesus and I am a grade-four Student Council member. This is my second year in Student Council and it makes me happy to have leadership responsibilities. In the Student Council, we discuss events and how we can help the school through collecting ideas from the entire primary. Events and initiatives that I enjoyed in the past are the Autumn Festival, Aloha Dance and spirit days. Moving forward, I am excited to see the many ideas others have to improve the school. I plan to use those ideas to create new events and improve the school more. The school will be a more calm and safe place. I encourage the parents reading this to help the school and UAE by donating during service events and by giving more ideas to the school.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our students for their leadership. Some of them were able to meet guests and speak about our school and their learning. We will continue to refine the students' leadership opportunities and the students' feedback will be taken into consideration.
Have a lovely week-end,
Mirna
Primary School Principal
Events and Updates
Parents have all received a notification to sign up for the Toddle platform. This is an exciting enhancement to our parent communication, and this year you will receive weekly updates through the Toddle platform.
This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
