Week Twelve - November 22nd, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians,
This week, I am delighted to highlight the remarkable talents and skills of our student athletes. Recently, our senior Volleyball and Swimming squad members traveled across the Gulf region to compete in the inaugural GAAC tournament. We are proud to celebrate their outstanding achievements! The volleyball team demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill, securing an impressive second-place finish, while our swimmers made waves by earning third place in a highly competitive field.
A special mention goes to our girls' teams for winning the prestigious Sportsmanship Award, an honor voted on by other schools, recognizing their exemplary team spirit and collegiality. These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students. Congratulations to everyone involved—you’ve truly made GIS proud!
A heartfelt thank you also goes to Mr. Jason, Mr. Chris, Ms. Amy, Mr. Shun, and Ms. Hadeel for their guidance and support in accompanying our students on this memorable trip.
Our Grade 10 to Grade 11 transition programme continued this week with two assemblies dedicated to DP, CP and university entrance. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain further insight into the pathways that lie ahead. Our parent ConnectEds will continue next week focusing on similar topics, ensuring that parents are well versed in what lies ahead for their sons and daughters.
A reminder that next week we have our Eid Al Etihad (National Day) celebrations on Monday. Students are invited to wear the national colours of the UAE. Should students not wear green, red, white and black, they must wear school uniform.
Next week, our secondary students will take part in the highly anticipated annual Sports Day on Thursday, November 28. Led by Mr. Chris, our dedicated PE team has been working hard to ensure this year’s event is the best GIS Sports Day yet!
On the day, students are encouraged to wear their sports uniform or, alternatively, their house shirt to show team spirit. To stay prepared, students should also bring a refillable water bottle, a hat, and sunscreen. We look forward to an exciting day filled with energy, teamwork, and school pride!
Enjoy the week ahead
Kind regards
Ms Amanda
