Week Twelve - November 22nd, 2024
Sarah McLean
Head of Primary
Dear Primary Parents,
We hope you are having a wonderful week! This week, we launched our Healthy Eating Campaign, led by our Wellbeing Ambassadors. The students participated in engaging activities to learn about the benefits of nutritious choices and were supported with self-reflection about healthy choices.
We also celebrated the distribution of student update reports this week. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to review your child’s report and reach out to their teacher with any questions.
Don’t forget GIS is celebrating UAE Eid Al Etihad (National Day) on Monday, November 25. Students are encouraged to wear UAE colors or traditional Emirati dress to honor this special occasion. Please send a small amount of money should your child wish to purchase items from our stalls.
Mark your calendars for WinterFest, taking place on Thursday, December 12. More information about this exciting event will be shared soon.
PYP Sports Week kicks off next week, bringing fun and physical activity to every grade level! Please check the poster below for grade-specific details about activities and schedules.
Grade 4 families are invited to a Meet and Greet on Friday next week, please see below and click the link to sign up.
Please remember to keep sick children at home to ensure the health and safety of our community. Students must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication before returning to school. For example, if your child has a fever at night, they should not attend school the following day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in supporting us in keeping the community healthy!
Lastly, I'd like to congratulate Suleyman Sadikhov from 3F, who participated in a Judo Festival on November 17 for children aged 7–13 held in the Dubai Police Sports Caravan where he Suleyman participated and won a gold medal from the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation.
Have a wonderful weekend and week ahead!
Warm regards,
Sarah McLean
Parents have all received a notification to sign up for the Toddle platform. This is an exciting enhancement to our parent communication, and this year you will receive weekly updates through the Toddle platform.
This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
Any absence (whether it is planned or unplanned ) must be communicated via email to the homeroom teacher and gis_primaryleaverequest@gemsedu.com by 8:00 AM. STS/bus users must also copy the STS manger on the email. vijesh.kumar@sts-group.com
A planned or extended absence beyond 2 days requires the completion of an absence request form.

Parents are urged to schedule medical, dental and other appointments after school hours or during vacations.
A request must be submitted before a child can be released once in school for health and safety and reasons.
Filling in the form 24hrs in advance is expected where possible.
