Data Collection
The purpose of this evaluation is to measure the effectiveness and impact of the CONNECT Program at TREC. There will be a combination of qualitative and quantitative data collected. Qualitative data will be collected through open-ended questions, in-person interview, and online surveys, which will require evaluators to take some time to collect and interpret the results; quantitative data will be collected through online surveys, tallies/records, and multiple choice type questions which can be quickly analyzed.
Data Analysis:
To assist in the analysis of our data we will include the following steps:
Ensure all findings are organized and input to Google Suite using our Districts GEDU accounts (FOIPPA compliant).
Ensure all student findings are confidential through deletion of participant names and any information that could identify participant. Staff contributions will not be anonymous as their feedback, participation, and discussion of the program will be part of our regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Look gaps in data - are there any stakeholder perspectives missing? (grade, gender, race, guardianship etc.) If so, go back and collect data from these participant representatives. Have all of the identified evaluation questions been appropriately answered? If not, take steps to get the needed answers.
Involve others in the process of interpreting data to avoid bias.
Sampling Approach:
Online and quantitative surveys will be given to students at certain scheduled intervals and implemented by their teacher/instructor. Although the survey is voluntary for students (it will not impact their grade or be assessed by their teachers), its importance will be emphasized by the staff.
For quantitative interview sampling, the evaluators will look to get a cross-section of willing student participants (based on grade, gender, race, and guardianship), looking for voluntary participants first. A secondary reward (like food vouchers/coupons) may be used to encourage participation if students are hesitant to engage for "nothing". This strategy is commonly part of the school culture already.
All staff will be expected to contribute to the survey as directed by their administrator.
