For the 2022-23 school year, GDS Staff Members are eligible for one of two transportation benefits. Staff can either elect to forego a reserved parking space for a cash-out of $3,000 or have a reserved parking space on campus. Staff who cash-out their space will have access to a flex-space, reservable once a week subject to availability. The cash-out will be distributed in regular paychecks during the academic year.
All Staff must register for either a reserved space, shared carpool space with partial cash-out, or the cash-out through Campbrain. If you are interested in signing up, follow this link for instructions. For more information on getting to campus, reach out to Chris at ImproveMyCommute@gds.org
Currently, GDS Staff Members are eligible for up to $260/month in WageWorks commuter benefits for Metrobus, Metrorail, parking (off-campus a Metro stations on nearby lots), and carpool/vanpool services. These benefits must be selected by the 5th day of the previous month (i.e. June 5th for July benefits).
Starting January 1, 2023, GDS will no longer subsidize employee Metro fare. However, employees are still eligible to takeout $280 of metro fare, pre-tax from their payroll. Please reach out to Chris for help figuring out what monthly fare is needed to maximize the value of the Parking Cash-Out Incentive.
Please email ImproveMyCommute@gds.org if you have any questions on getting signed up for these benefits. If you are interested in signing up now, you can find instructions here.
Employees who bike to work and elect to give up their parking space are eligible for the $3,000 cash-out. Be on the lookout for biking related events where we will have raffle prizes, giveaways, and more to celebrate this sustainable commuting mode.
Employees who walk to work and elect to give up their parking space are eligible for the $3,000 cash-out. Be on the lookout for walking related events where we will have raffle prizes, giveaways, and more to celebrate this sustainable commuting mode.
With dozens of stops across the DMV, staff are able to take the GDS Shuttle Bus to GDS at no charge. Buses arrive at GDS around 7:45 and will depart at 3:45 for the 2021-22 school year. You can find an interactive map of stops around the region here. Please email ImproveMyCommute@gds.org for more information.
Using MyGDS's Map directory tool, it's easier than ever to find staff that live near you to set up a carpool with. Carpools can take advantage of HOV and toll lanes at no cost and help split the cost of a commute, not to mention time to socialize with colleagues on the way into and home from work. If you would like our team to connect you with nearby faculty and staff members, send us a note at ImproveMyCommute@gds.org.
