What should a third grade student practice?

  • Know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers (i.e. 8 x 5 = 40)
  • Practice division facts within 100
  • Solve two-step word problems using all operations
  • Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using place value strategies
  • Represent fractions on a number line
  • Understand fraction equivalence and comparison
  • Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes
  • Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes
  • Practice area and perimeter of rectangles

Grade Four Resources

What should a fourth grade student practice?

  • Know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers (i.e. 8 x 5 = 40)
  • Know from memory division facts within 100
  • Use the four operations to solve word problems (add and subtract using the standard algorithm, place value models are great for multiplication and division)
  • Practice with factors and multiples
  • Make number and shape patterns from a given rule
  • Read, write and compare whole numbers using place value understanding
  • Relate fractions by putting them in order
  • Add and subtract fractions with like denominators
  • Multiply fractions by whole numbers (i.e. 3 x ½)
  • Write decimal numbers as related to fractions
