Presents the Spanish language in an integrated way and emphasizes listening, speaking, reading, and writing; includes how to ask and respond to basic question, to speak and read with a range of carefully selected topics and to develop an understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.
Levels: 1, 2, 3 (Honors), 4 (Honors)
Students in the course will be challenged to gain the ability to comprehend formal and informal spoken Spanish, to acquire the vocabulary and grasp of structure to read newspapers, magazines and Hispanic literature, and to compose expository passages while learning to speak accurately and fluently.
Students who score a 3 or better on an Advanced Placement language exam will receive a bi-literacy for high school diplomas.
Designed for Heritage Language Learners of Spanish, this course can accommodate a wide range of Heritage language learners, from those who are minimally functional (can comprehend Spanish but are not able to speak fluently, read or write) to those who are more proficient and literate in Spanish.

Courses must be taken in sequence
2 levels of same language in same year recommended
Not a high school graduation requirement. All students planning to attend post-secondary college must complete TWO consecutive courses in the same language.

Completion of 3 units of credit to complete World Language Pathway requirements
World Language courses count in the CORE GPA and are considered as Rigor courses for the HOPE scholarship.
