The Goshen cross country course measures 3.06 miles and starts on the 3rd base line of the GHS softball field, runs down next to the driveway towards Scotchtown Ave Elementary School. After running behind the building, the course follows the sidewalk along Scotchtown Ave, up the hill to Mt Olympus, and then along the blacktop hill to Goshen Intermediate School, around the perimeter of the playground, where runners will hit the 1-mile mark. As runners exit the playground, they make a sharp right, into a wooded trail that leads back down to Mt. Olympus. Then it's through the woods back to GHS property, behind the tennis courts, along the perimeter of the baseball field. After going past the throwing cages, athletes run alongside the track, into the woods behind the track, which goes downhill and back up, coming out near the lower turf field by pole vault. After running around the perimeter of the practice turf field, runners approach the stadium, running along the outside of the track. Right past the scoreboard, athletes briefly re-enter the woods at the 2-mile mark, and turn right upon exiting the woods, running along side the track once again. Then it's back along the perimeter of the baseball field, back into the woods to Mt. Olympus, making a right after exiting the woods. Runners continue along the fence on Mt. Olympus, exiting through a small opening down the hill, around the fenced in playground, behind SAS, across the wooden bridge. Lastly, athletes run back up along the GHS driveway, crossing the finish line located along the sidewalk near the softball field.
The Goshen XC course is 95% grass, wooded trails, mulched, and gravel paths. There are a couple areas where athletes must cross sidewalks or pavement, but it is limited to less than 15 meters.
It is recommended that athletes wear spikes.
