This project has given me an amazing opporunity to explore something that I hold very dear to me. As someone who was raised in a musical family and has been playing the piano for over 10 years, having a chance to use this hobby for a major school project felt very rewarding. Not only did I get to share the incredible compostitions that I chose to larger crowd, but in doing so, I also got a deeper appreciation for them from the knowledge I acquired regarding the compositions and their compers in the process of working on this project. Having to research the composers as part of this project inspired me to continue to learn more about them outside of this project, as I now understand how much better one can interpret their compositions with some extra knowledge of what inspired the composer to write it in the first place. This project also gave me an opportunity to better understand and work on my ability to work on a long-term assignment. There were a lot of things in the process that I wished I did differently, including but not limited to how late I began working on the project, how many times I changed my idea for the project, and how unorganized my work became towards the end stages of the project. However, I felt that my ability to see the bigger picture, my ability to sit down and work on something for more than a few minutes, and my time management have all improved as a result of this project as well. If I could start from the beginning, I would hopefully have my final idea ready much sooner, or at the very least not 2 days before the due date. If I had had a more successful brainstorming phase, I think I could have created a much more creative and special project, although I am very happy with what I have so far and I believe I can still take that extra step of creating the short film in the 2 or so weeks I have to complete it. I hope to have another opportunity such as this one again in my academic career so I can take what I have learned from this project and apply it to something else.Â
