Alexander Scriabin 1872 - 1915

Frédéric Chopin 1810 - 1849
Guiding Question: How does learning and performing the piano works of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Scriabin deepen our understanding of these composers' lives and the cultural and historical context in which they lived and worked?
Elevator Pitch: My project delves into the lives of three of the most beloved classical composers - Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Scriabin - through the lens of their piano works. Through learning and performing their pieces, I aim to better understand the composers' personal histories and the influences that shaped their music. This project offers the opportunity to not only appreciate the beauty of classical music but also to gain insight into the fascinating lives of some of its greatest artists.
Introduction: For my March Madness project, I wanted to take a deeper dive into the lives of piano composers. These composers are part of the reason for my current interest in Piano, so I felt it would be in my best interest to learn about them in an effort to better understand the music I'm playing and the people behind the compositions. I will be learning and recording a piece from each composer, and then I will analyze them to get a better understanding of the intention behind the piece and hopefully get to know the composer better as well.
