Bringing color to colorless things.

My IP10 project is a short to medium length video/short film. The video is made up of a photo series of various works of graffiti from across the city. The ultimate goal of my project is to shift the average person's perspective on graffiti. A common view on graffiti is that it is ugly, criminal vandalism committed by delinquents. My view, and what I am trying to showcase, is that graffiti is a deep and beautiful form of art, which goes under appreciated by most. Intricate tags go unnoticed and almost blend into an urban background, and I am attempting to bring them to light. I am also utilizing music of my own creation as background noise. In the video, I will also teach some methods to writing good graffiti (on paper of course).

WHy?

I grew up around graffiti. Every day when I would step outside I would see bold letters of a writer's tag. Last year, when brainstorming ideas for my IP10 project, my mother suggested I should do something with graffiti. I kept that idea in mind going into the summer, where I met my now good friend, Zetro, while taking a photography class. He introduced me to the world of graffiti in New York City. Soon I became enticed by graffiti, reading every wall I found. With my photography skills, I began to consider accepting my mom's idea and having my project be about graffiti.
