First Steps:
Brainstormed possible topic ideas and wanted to combine some of my interests: politics, journalism, writing
Decided on a project idea in October and started outlining my process
Next Steps:
Did some research over Winter Break on the topic of partisanship and found many statistics about how it has grown and how young people are disaffected from politics
Created a list of possible experts to interview
Reached out to my first group of interviewees
Interviewed Emily Bazelon, a former senior editor at Slate and a current The New York Times Magazine staff writer, for advice on writing a long-form journalism piece, how to reach out for interviews, and some publication advice (as well as for answers on my article topic)
Completed more interviews throughout January, February, and on March Madness Week #1
Last Steps:
Transcribed all of my interviews
Completed an outline for my article before March Madness Week #2
Started drafting and finished my article during March Madness Week #2
Checked quotes with sources for accuracy
Finished my project website!
