From the beginning of the year, we focus on creating a positive classroom culture. This includes classroom lessons, discussions, read-alouds, and activities to help foster a classroom community that helps students feel comfortable to be themselves and learn.
Students will work in teams throughout the year. They will be able to select different students as "Team Captains" to act as leaders in the classroom. This encourages students to think of their classmates, not just themselves. Different teams will be in charge of different tasks in the classroom and helping to make our classroom a clean and enjoyable space.
Harris Elementary is a PBIS school and uses PAWS tickets as a school-wide behavior incentive. Students are rewarded PAWS tickets for positive behavior. They can receive tickets at any time throughout the day. PAWS tickets can be cashed in for prizes when we have the PAWS Store open every few weeks.
PAWS stands for:
Positive Thinking
Act Responsibly
