Check here for a list of current special event opportunities, and a schedule of upcoming special events that will need volunteer support! Email the Volunteer Program with any questions or to sign up for an event. Note that we can't take any sign-ups for future events until recruitment officially begins!
We'll reach out with specific volunteer needs as we have more information throughout the year.
Volunteers are a vital part of making the Gala a success, and can help with a wide range of responsibilities, from check-in and check-out, to being spotters during the live auction, to selling and tracking copper mugs. Volunteers are needed from 3:00pm-11:00pm on the day of the Gala, or to help with Gala preparations in the weeks preceding the event. Anyone who signs up to help on the day of the Gala will be invited to attend a kick-off meeting that afternoon, and a delicious catered dinner will be provided!
Our Adult and Gallery Programs team is excited to be reviving BugFest, a celebration of all things insect-y! This one-day festival will include highlights from our Entomology and Botany collections, community partners, bug-themed art activities, STEM programming, and a Bug Bar where guests can get a taste of some insect recipes! Volunteers will be a critical part of making this on-site program a bug-blast. Please take a look at the volunteer needs below, and email the Volunteer Program with your full name and preferred assignment and shift(s) to sign up!

Build your own wild bee hotel to provide an option for wild bees to take shelter!
Community Science - NHMU’s Citizen Science Program will be on the Museum Terraces during BugFest, catching insects outside to share with people, and encouraging attendees to make iNaturalist observations of insects they find!
