Traveling Treasures volunteers represent the Museum at family festivals related to the Traveling Treasures program and exhibit. Volunteers facilitate mostly OFFSITE activities and will help with set up and take down for these events. Volunteers are responsible for engaging the community in activities while encouraging people to learn and discover content related to natural history. Training is provided on various activities for the events along with basic information about the Museum. Volunteers are able and willing to interact with the public, including people of diverse ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic situations, religions, abilities and family configurations.
Training Required:
Traveling Treasures volunteers will attend a training to discuss Traveling Treasures schedule and information.
Volunteers will also receive activity training prior to events in person (preferred) OR will be directed to an online training resource to brush up on their knowledge necessary for interpretation.
Defensive Driver Training is required of any volunteer who will drive to events.
Shift times: Vary, depending on the event
Time Commitment: 3-4 Traveling Treasures events per year including both local and statewide events. Assisting with local Community Outreach events is encouraged. One-year time commitment.
Age Requirement: 18 years or older
