With training in the subject matter of their camps, they bring science to life, helping campers make lasting connections between science, natural history, and summer fun. Summer Camp Assistant volunteers are partnered with our Youth and Family Programs Informal Education Staff to create an exciting, safe and fun learning environment.
Volunteers assist the Informal Education staff with classroom management and facilitation by utilizing activities and projects that help campers identify their prior knowledge and make new connections with science and the natural world. Duties include: set-up and clean-up of the labs and activities; assist with the running of activities and projects; assist with classroom management; assist with supply needs; assisting with check in of campers and supervision prior to sessions starting; other duties as assigned.
