Range Creek Archaeology Lab volunteers are responsible for cataloging and preserving archaeological objects from the Range Creek field site. This includes cleaning artifacts, building individual housing/storage structures, and other tasks as assigned. This also includes entering artifact information into a Museum database. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to handle fragile objects with care and precision. Using their training and close attention to detail, volunteers safely preserve archaeological artifacts to add to our digital collection, and support ongoing research and exploration of the natural world.
Training Required:
All new Range Creek volunteers will receive on-the-job training.
Shift times: A set schedule will be determined based on the availability of the volunteer and the supervisor, but we request that in the beginning the work take place within the normal work week.
Time Commitment: A minimum of three hours per week is requested for a duration of 6 months, but more is always appreciated!
Age Requirement: 18 years or older
Occasionally, volunteers are invited to the Range Creek field site to participate in special archaeology projects. For example, in 2019, volunteers went to help with a rice grass harvesting projects. Check out more details about this project here:
