Department: School Outreach Programs
Supervisor: Glynis Bawden, School Outreach and Teacher Professional Development Manager
Master Naturalist volunteers work with NHMU educators, in collaboration with the Utah Master Naturalist program, to provide an opportunity for Utah public and charter school teachers to learn more about Utah's unique and beautiful ecosystems. Volunteers in this program drive participants in Museum vehicles to workshop sites (on dirt roads), cook and prepare meals for participants, and set up and break down camp as necessary. Volunteers also work with staff before the workshop weekend to help with logistics and supply shopping. NHMU’s Master Naturalist Workshops are typically weekend-long commitments.
