Bioblitz Naturalist volunteers use the iNaturalist app to engage curious minds with the thrill of discovery.
Specifically, Bioblitz Naturalist volunteers will assist participants in NHMU’s Citizen Science Program, Salt Lake City Neighborhood Naturalist, during bioblitzes at local urban open spaces. Volunteers will help participants in observing and identifying the living organisms they encounter, and engage in conversations with individuals or small groups about what they observe. Volunteers will model good observation skills, help participants use field guides, and share their enthusiasm for nature.
Training Required: Bioblitz Naturalist volunteers are required to attend one bioblitz orientation training session.
Shift times: We are currently determining the 2020 Salt Lake City Neighborhood Naturalist schedule. We anticipate six bioblitzes between April and October at local urban open spaces. Events will likely be on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings and run for three to four hours.
Time Commitment: Bioblitz Naturalist volunteers will work a minimum of three bioblitzes between April and October 2020.
Age Requirement: 18 years or older
