Expectations

What we expect before Starting school

what we expect During school

Parental engagement with school is very important. These are the few expectations we have:

  • Read with your child for 5 minutes everyday

  • Complete all homework

  • Attend workshops throughout the year

  • Keep in conversation with your child's class teacher about their progress and behaviour

  • Bring in your child's book bag everyday

  • Tell us if anything that has happened that might affect your child's learning e.g. poor sleep

  • Read for pleasure - the library has many books you can read and exchange

  • Allow your child to be independent. This can be done through allowing your child to dress themselves, fold clothes, put on and fasten their coat, hang up their coat, walk to school (please do not use a buggy), drink out of a cup (some of our children do report that they have milk in a bottle!), use a knife and fork and feed themselves

These are important skills that will help develop their physical development as well as their self-confidence.

We aim to support you in every step of your child's education and their time with us at George Betts.
