As part of the annual celebration of the feast of St. Ignatius, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), together with select college student organizations and in coordination with the Formation and Student Support Offices (FSSO), continued their engagement with the Indigenous People at Brgy. La Anunciacion, Iriga City. Together with select college student organizations, student leaders, moderators, and office staff conducted different programs for the Pong-Ol tribe at Iriga last August 9, 2025.
Four student organizations collaborated in providing educational activities for children aged six to eleven (6-11), where each group could apply their particular skills in alignment to their nature and mission.
The Ateneo Nursing Students Association (ANSA) started with hygiene lessons focused on hand washing and tooth brushing, emphasizing the need for these in avoiding sickness. They also assigned students for the blood pressure or BP-taking for adults in the vicinity. The Ateneo College Red Cross Youth taught Basic Wound Care to the children and adults present at the venue, and used a brief demonstration to make each step easier to remember. The Rotaract Club of Ateneo de Naga University (RAC-ADNU) ran interactive games in between sessions and assisted each group in their needs throughout the program. Lastly, the Samahang Tagapagtaguyod ng Edukasyong Pilipino (STEP) ended with a storytelling session about St. Ignatius while the children enjoyed their warm cup of goto. Aside from these, the children also each received a hygiene kit and school supply kit, sponsored by ANSA and the Office of the University President respectively.
On the other hand, the Ateneo Sarong Bangui Junior Eagles, Anduyog Junior Eagles, and Uswag Junior Eagles were in charge of the packing and distribution of donated clothes for the families. Through the generous donations of the formation offices and individuals, food packs were also given to the parents who went through the recollection facilitated by the FSSO members.
The semestral outreach activity contributes to the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals namely SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, and SDG 4: Quality Education. Coincidentally, August 9 is also the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, chosen in recognition of the first meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations held in Geneva in 1982.

The Orgs' Fest Magkasararo Project brought together student organization members and Office of Student Affairs staff on Labor Day, May 1, 2025 to plant new trees on Ateneo de Naga University Bagumbayan Campus. Some saplings replaced those toppled by recent super typhoons.
Aside from the planting activity, a team conducted a mangrove coastal cleanup in Barangay Belen, Calabanga on the same day, and was continued on May 2, 2025, while another volunteer group undertook a tree inventory or "tree mapping" at the Ateneo de Naga University Pacol Campus.
This year's Orgs' Fest theme supports the university's Laudato Si commitment to "Care for our Common Home."
On December 6, 2024, Ateneo de Naga University’s Office of Student Affairs (OSA) partnered with recognized college student organizations to turn over donated school supplies and equipment to the beneficiary schools of this year’s One Big Light outreach project. This year’s initiative marked a departure from the traditional Christmas community celebration, as it aimed to show solidarity with the victims of recent calamities.
The One Big Light donation drive, which started November 18, 2024, saw an overwhelming response from student organizations as well as groups and individuals from within and outside the University. Originally aiming for 1,500 pieces of notebooks and writing instruments, the drive’s target was doubled to 3,000, a goal that was also surpassed by the end of the donation period on St. Francis Xavier Day, December 3, 2024.
In addition to the general school supplies, the Liderato kan Nueva Atenista, through the Sustener: The Eskuwela Initiative, contributed 500 pieces of crayon boxes and rulers which were distributed among beneficiary elementary schools.
Furthermore, the Tanging Yaman Foundation, through the Center for Community Development (CCD), provided 877 school bags and rubber slippers for the school children.
A significant boost to the initiative came from Xavier School’s Batch ‘86, which donated Php 80,000 thru ADNU University President Fr. Aristotle Dy, S.J. This funding enabled the purchase of printers, laminating machines, storage boxes, and blackboard erasers for six beneficiary schools.
The OSA coordinated with the school heads and representatives for the distribution of donations in Bombon, Canaman, Magarao, Gainza, and Iriga, namely: Sonia Borja of Sto. Domingo Elementary School, Mary Ann Esplana of Fundado Elementary School, Myline De Jesus of Northern Canaman High School, Yolly Hermina of Barobaybay Elementary School, Madeleine Brusas of Dahilig Elementary School, Fe Ricario of Loob Elementary School, and Ryan Ebron of La Anunciacion Elementary School.
The turnover events were facilitated by OSA Director Rodolfo SB. Virtus, Jr., Program Officer for Student Leadership Development Sofio Joseph Almoneda, and Program Officer for Student Activities and Student Organizations Maria Josephine Reyes.
Student representatives from extracurricular organizations Ateneo Animal Management and Nurturing Network (ATAMANN) and Christ's Youth in Action (CYA), and co-curricular organizations Legal Management Institute of Ateneo de Naga Students (LMIANS), Ateneo College of Sciences, Engineering, and Ateneo College of Science, Engineering and Architecture - Student Council (AXI-SC), Ateneo Banking and Finance Association (ABFA), Junior Ateneo Business Managers' Association (JABMA), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE ADNU), Electronics Engineering Society (ECES), Ateneo Junior Marketing Association (AJMA) also took part in the events. The Lideratos Moderator, Cristine Refuerzo, also accompanied student representatives during the turnover event at La Anunciacion in Iriga City.
In a related effort, on December 7, 2024, volunteer organization Peer Coaches, Student and Kaabay Volunteers (PCKSV) joined the College Guidance Center (CGC) in an outreach program and turned over donation items to their partner school, Fundado Elementary School in Canaman.
The final turnover of donations was scheduled for December 19, to the Cimmaron and Tabangnon Community of Caranday, Baao. These school supplies, coming from the proceeds of the Ateneo de Naga University Symphonic Band's mini concert last December 3, 2024, “Merry Melodies for a Cause”, served as part of the semestral outreach organized by the Formation and Student Support Offices (FSSO).
A list of all donors and their contributions was released to recognize everyone’s support for the success of the new initiative in the annual One Big Light celebration.
