The Gateway Induction Program is anchored in Korthagen’s Core Reflection model of teaching and learning. Novice teachers experience optimal learning when they engage in self-directed learning and job-embedded practice that is anchored in ongoing reflection (Cuadro & Garcias, 2020; Hagger & McIntyre, 20026; Korthagen, 2004, 2017 ).
Our Theoretical Approach incorporates:
six influences on teacher learning and growth identified by Korthagen;
the Gateway Induction 5 Pillars; and
Culturally-Responsive Teaching (CRT) competencies.
